Senior Data Network Systems Engineer
Raytheon is seeking an experienced customer facing
Senior Data Network Systems Engineer, SDNSE to lead the design and
implementation of networks supporting a large corporate security project. The
SDNSE will be responsible for leading the detailed network engineering of the
associated LAN and WAN infrastructure, coordination of fiber-optic cabling
installations, other coordination with customer groups, sub-contractors, and
installation teams, necessary to affect the technical insertion of security
systems into the existing enterprise network. RESPONSIBILITIESThe
SDNSE's primary responsibilities include technical oversight of the local
network design team and ensuring that all network equipment is properly
configured, installed, secured and tested. The engineer will review
requirements and write/execute test plans to validate those requirements. The
team will design and execute performance tests to evaluate the scalability and
operational readiness of network upgrades. Will review evaluation test results
to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and approved design
specifications and will prepare test documentation according to project/company
standards. The SDNSE will be involved in numerous project activities
including design, integration, and documentation. This person will be a
contributing member of the technical team responsible for general network
engineering of WAN, LAN, and network security appliances, day-to-day operations
within the network design laboratory sandbox environment, maintenance, upgrades,
determination and resolution of network and equipment problems. The team will
also design and integrate COTS network monitoring systems, establish baseline
network performance metrics, and define action plans for implementation of
improvements. Work with remote teams of routing and switching experts
designing, installing, and configuring all project layer 3 routing devices,
layer 3 LAN, VLAN routing, physical layer and fiber optic architectures. You
will c oordinate with other contractors, company representatives, and vendors,
to repair and make improvements to both the physical and logical LAN
infrastructure. The team r eviews and evaluates the effects of changes to the
network, including interfaces with other provider networks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· 8+ years of experience in Data Networking design, installation and test
· Enterprise engineering experience in mid to large sized network environments, with an understanding of optical switching technologies.
· Experience with Microsoft Office Tools.
· Experience installing and configuring network hardware.
· BS/BA in a technical discipline with 8 years of relevant experience or MS/MA and 6 years of relevant experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Understanding of Fiber cable plants and experience with the installation of Fiber-Optic Cabling.
· Understanding of critical infrastructure, network security, and configuration management policy.
· Experience with security applications
· SENIOR level understanding and experience with OSPF routing, Quality of Service (QoS), IGMP Multicasting, VPNs, ACLs, MPLS, IP, VoIP, Switching, SNMP, H.323, ICMP, and complex routing/switching architectures.
· Experience designing networks utilizing OSPF routing, multicast-based video-to-IP internetworking devices with in-depth knowledge of IP PIM and multicast routing.
· Experience integrating Juniper and Cisco networking hardware and technologies.
· Skilled at interpreting customer requirements and creating quality solutions.
· Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA certification, or equivalent experience.
· Must have a proactive attitude and able to independently take the initiative to learn and tackle any problem encountered.
· Candidate must have proven analysis abilities, a high level of attention to detail, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Individual must be highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
· Able to work outdoors in desert and maritime locations with temperatures in excess of 120 degrees.
· Must be flexible and creative in adapting to environments where functional and operational objectives may conflict, or evolve and change rapidly.
· Demonstrated Leadership and Management qualifications
· Demonstrated self-starter and ability to independently resolve problems
· Ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment with short timelines
· Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
